ABOUT PILATES BY SARAH B
Hello! I'm Sarah Brenninkmeijer, Mum of two and pilates lover and practitioner. I have always been keen on keeping my body fit and healthy but it became especially important to me after the birth of my first baby. My body and my mind craved a much more holistic type of movement therapy. One that would rehabilitate and future-proof me physically and provide my mind with an opportunity for calm and focus, something many of us need in our busy lives. Pilates was my saviour. I adore how it restores and builds strength from the inside out, with a big focus on the core but also the entire body. It improves my posture and keeps my spine healthy, keeps my joints mobile and well supported, improves my balance and co-ordination and keeps me flexible as well mentally happier and calmer. Whilst on maternity leave I decided to change career path from an office-based career in marketing and PR to becoming a comprehensive pilates matwork instructor with the APPI (Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institute).
Now a fully qualified APPI matwork instructor since 2018, I teach pilates classes and 1:1 sessions in St Margarets, Richmond and Twickenham, West London.​

I like to push my clients but always within their own boundaries, preferring to build strength step by step, from the ground up, incorporating pilates principles such as precision and control, with a heavy focus on alignment. Class numbers are kept small for maximum attention and feedback. Often I will incorporate small equipment for added resistance, proprioceptive feedback or stability challenge.
APPI pilates is a globally recognised method developed by physiotherapists. Due to its clinical roots, each original pilates exercise has been carefully analysed and made accessible by modifying and dividing into levels; making this style of pilates extremely adaptable and suitable for all ages and abilities.

MIXED LEVEL PILATES
Currently I am running mixed level classes at Greenspace, 149 St. Margarets Rd. Please check the timetable here for times, pricing and to book. Classes are kept small, allowing for more instructor attention and feedback. Mats and equipment are provided at this venue. POSTNATAL PILATES
Mother & Baby postnatal pilates classes are on Mondays @ 10.30-11.30am at Patch, 42 York St, Twickenham and Thursdays @ 10.00-11.00am at Wow Family Hub, Hampton Hill, TW12 1NP.
Classes are run in term-time blocks at a cost of £16 per class. See below for 2026 term dates. You are welcome to come and try a single class before committing to the block, if space permits. Blocks can also be joined midway, space permitting. Please email or phone with any questions or to book.
The course is aimed at tired new Mamas with pre-crawlers, looking to start their rehabilitation journey after their 6 week post-natal check or up to 12 weeks for c- section delivery. We will focus on restoring pelvic floor and core strength, overall body strength and mobility whilst having some time for connecting with other Mothers, nourishing yourself both physically and mentally. I can check your diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and we will discuss your birth and recovery so that I can modify the class to suit you and your needs. I have had both vaginal and c-section deliveries and understand the recovery process from both a personal and practitioner's perspective. Every birth experience requires a bespoke approach.
This class is all about you, baby is welcome but the movement will be for you only. I will be on hand to pick up any grizzly babas for cuddles and of course you are welcome to stop any time to feed or settle them. Mats are provided but you will need to bring something soft for your baby to lie on. Just make sure you come wearing comfortable clothes to exercise in and bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Patch and Wow Family Hub are lovely venues, with an accessible entrance, plenty of space to park your buggy and a yummy cafe so you can enjoy a cuppa before or after class.

PRIVATE SESSIONS IN YOUR HOME:
Private 1:1s can be a great way to start your pilates journey. Perhaps you are recovering from an injury, surgery, birth or just a little apprehensive to try a class. I can tailor the sessions perfectly to suit your needs and goals and they can be a convenient way to fit them into your busy schedule. A great option for new Mums too. 1:1 sessions costs £50 per hour or £40 for 45 minutes. Please email or phone to discuss further.

PLEASE NOTE: Before joining my classes you may be advised to book a 30 minute 1:1 assessment with me or have a short phone consultation if you are completely new to pilates or have any particular health concerns. This can be discussed during the booking process.
